Where do the figures come from?
The Atlas uses public data from Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) on the detailed count and votes by presidential candidate. The municipality and electoral zone datasets provide state and municipal totals. Section-level files provide counts for polling sections and the polling places that group them. Coverage includes all 27 Brazilian federal units.
Valid votes at section level follow the TSE's published classification of votes. Where raw candidate totals do not reconcile with the detailed count, the candidate breakdown is unavailable for that area. Eligible voter counts follow the published dataset, including the 39 duplicate origin records in the 2026 national total reported by the TSE.

How should I read the comparisons?
Each change is the focus period minus the reference period. Turnout and abstention use the number of eligible voters in each period. Valid, blank and invalid vote rates use turnout. Candidate shares use valid votes.
Geographic comparisons use the identifiers published by the TSE. The composition of sections and the electorate can change. Differences describe aggregate totals and cannot reveal how individuals voted in each round.
How does the Atlas relate to election auditing?
The Atlas is a descriptive tool for exploring and comparing published results. The project's audit proposal requires independent evidence across voting, counting and reporting.
